All of the open tabs in my phone browser.
This had the aspirations to be an ode, but I'm no poet. So here's a list instead.
The Runaways: Live in Japan album cover. The font, the lightning bolt, the hair and outfits, I’m obsessed with this album cover. In another dimension, I am a rockstar.
Two different tarot card description sites. I often say that I pull a daily tarot card for inspiration but really, I need a magical fortune-telling crone to tell me everything is going to be okay.
Photos of the jacket Madonna wore in Desperately Seeking Susan. I’m going to recreate a version of this jacket someday.
My friend Heidi’s blog. Heidi is someone I knew from recovery. She went through hell to get there and then she got Covid at the very beginning which turned into Long Covid and it broke her. The screen is saved on a photo of her, vibrant and surrounded by sunflowers. I miss her.
A beading tutorial on how to tie overhand knots between beads, YouTube. Because I need another project. (I don’t need another project.)
White Stetson hats on Ebay. Duh.
White Gunne Sax tops on Ebay. Duh.
Pentax 6x7 film cameras on Ebay. This was a camera I used in film school and I’m convinced that if I had this camera, I would shoot more film. (I most likely will shoot the same amount of film that I currently shoot.)
Vintage Opium by Yves Saint Laurent perfume on Ebay. I am haunted by scents that can make me hop timelines in a “Land of the Lost” kind of way. In this case, it would be Laurel Hall, my first college dorm room, 1987.
Hawks that are common in Texas. I love hawks.
Symptoms of Parkinson’s disease. I’m currently fascinated with the overlap of Parkinson’s and menopause symptoms. I’d like to say I’m making a spreadsheet but I’ve never actually made a spreadsheet in my life. Perhaps I’ll open a tab on how to make a spreadsheet, but not there yet.
Symptoms of menopause. See above.
Rob Brezsny’s Free Will Astrology. Like the open tarot tabs, I need this magic in my life.
Love is a Battlefield music video by Pat Benatar. During the Pan when we were all doing weird things to survive, I began practicing the dance sequence that begins in the bar scene of this video. I also pulled fabrics to take a stab at Pat’s dress. I shelved it until I read “All Fours” by Miranda July and was inspired to dust it off. I’m dreaming of a crone sleepover slash talent show.
The Interior Castle by Teresa of Avila, Thriftbooks. Do I need to add this book to my mystic collection? Probably.
Hilma Af Klint: The Complete Catalogue Raisonné: Volumes I-VII, Bookshop. Expensive. Open-tab manifesting.
The Austin Public Library. I check my Checked Out and Holds status almost as much as I check Instagram.
Vintage Elizabeth Taylor for Avon Falcon Egyptian Cleopatra ring, Poshmark. Why am I like this, but I need this ring.
Lyrics to Ex-Factor by Lauryn Hill. This song may be the only one I’ve heard to use the word ‘reciprocity’. I remember I looked it up immediately and since then, I use it whenever I can. And I live it whenever I can.
Floral and sphinx artwork on vintage black Singer sewing machines. Tattoo research.
Adult beginning dance classes in Austin. I’m also a good dancer in another dimension.
The 100 Best Books of the 21st Century, NY Times. Who else has aspirations to get through this list?
Ask Lois. An Austin intuitive I saw in the the early 00’s because when the other magic fails, I’ll definitely need more magic.
That Badu Technology Tea by Eryka Badu. TBC, Eryka Badu could sell me toothpaste, vegetable seeds, earbuds, really anything, take my money.
Simone Weil biography. More mystics I need on my shelf.
How to volunteer for the 2024 election Democrats. Needs no explanation.
Tell me about the weirdest, most telling open tabs in you browser. Comments are open to all.
Didn’t love that one? Try this.
Only tabs I have open right now are gmail, you tube & calendar. That's not to say I don't have 20 open tabs on any given day - I've gotten into the habit of forcing myself to close them & let that shit go.
I also learned the word 'receprocity' from Miss Lauryn Hill. Am currently receiving a whole other education from Chappel Roan, who's giving me life whilst blowing my mind - as is Gen Z in general.
Other open tabs are usually to stay abreast of the continuing saga of both Sarah Boone & Donna Adelson as their respective and long awaited murder trial dates approach. In another dimension, I am a rottweiler barrister - and would love to have been one in this dimension too if it weren't for the executive function nightmare that would be 'the paperwork'.
Other tabs are usually reserved for my obsession with estrogen, asking the Internet 'am I a lesbian?', 12 step shit & chat gpt.
Also, Madonna's jacket from Desperately Seeking Susan is my Roman Empire 💫
OMG - the TABS!! I love it! My family is constantly making fun of all my open tabs and closing them for me. And yes, yes you do need to add The Interior Castle by Teresa of Avila to your bookshelf!! I did an on-line book study about her and that book - unbelievable! Also, Have you read Wild Mercy by Mirabai Starr??? Highly recommend - female divnity/mystic stuff - sooo good!! Right now I have 4 different food delivery sites open, and several images of Loving Kindness for a mediation I guided this morning, and several autism sites, and a dress I am considering buying for an upcoming 90th birthday party. Also, can I retire and just read the 100 books on the NY TIMES list, please?
